Sizemore and Sizemore, Inc., was organized on April 16, 1949, by William R. Sizemore and his wife, Mary H. Sizemore.
William Sizemore was a professional registered forester who initially attended the University of Michigan and Auburn University, and ultimately received degrees from Louisiana State University, Duke University and the University of Georgia, where he received his Ph.D. in Forestry. He was awarded the M.A.I. professional appraisal designation by the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, and was a registered forester in eleven states and registered land surveyor in two states. He served as Adjunct Professor of Forest Economics at Auburn University, conducted short courses and led seminars at several universities and at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon, and was an Adjunct Professor of Forestry at Duke University.
Mary H. Sizemore graduated from the University of Alabama Law School, and did graduate work in social service administration at the University of Chicago. She was a member of many professional groups and organizations, including the Alabama Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Women Lawyers, the Society of American Foresters and the Forestry Legislative Study Committee of the State of Alabama. Additionally, Mrs. Sizemore served as director for the Forest Farmers Association and the American Forestry Association.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Sizemore wrote and spoke extensively on the subject of forestry. They co-authored books on forest appraisal and tax considerations in forestland management, as well as articles in various Forest Farmer Manuals, the Natural Resources Lawyer and the Bulletin of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
During their years of forestry practice, Dr. and Mrs. Sizemore built a large clientele and filled the company with many knowledgeable and devoted employees, three of which they chose to carry on Sizemore and Sizemore with the high standards to which their clients had become accustomed: Jack P. Fillingham, Steven G. Burak, and Richard H. Pinkowski, Jr.
Jack Fillingham began his employment with the firm in 1972. In 1984 he was named vice president, and eight years later was promoted to vice chairman. Jack was named chairman in 2002 and still serves in that capacity today.
